Doug Duncan dropping out of race?
I just heard on Washington Post Radio that Doug Duncan will be dropping out of the race for governor. From what they said, this was due to medial reasons (fighting clinical depression).

It sounds like a news conference will be held later today.

2. News Conference at 2:00
Sorry to hear he is suffering from depression. Glad to hear we will not have such a contentious primary as it was shaping up to be.

3. the political map in maryland
is changing almost hourly in Maryland. As a Moco resident I'm of course schocked, we shall see how the O'malley plays this card before the day is done.

4. Simms
I feel worse for Simms...he just accepted as running mate about a month ago. I hope he runs for AG. Baltimore needs a rep in the Primary.

"It's difficult for me to announce that I will no longer be a candidate for governor of Maryland, but it's the best decision for me, for my family and for our state," Duncan said at a 2 p.m. news conference with family members and his running mate, former Baltimore City State's Attorney Stuart O. Simms, at his side.

6. Sorry to hear about his depression, but this is good for the party
This will allow O'Malley to focus on Ehrlich.

7. Yanno ... this depression thing .......
.... it seems to me that unmanageable depression is a pretty rare bird. Most can be controlled very effectively with modest meds. In fact, if it can't be, it would likely be something more than depression. Ever since I heard about this its struck me that there may be a whole untold part of this story that we'll never learn.

8. Running for statewide office
is amazingly stressful and this isn't good for dealing with depression. I hope Doug gets well. That's the most important thing.
