Brockton neighbors urged to use Crime Watch

BROCKTON — A neighborhood shaken by mystery gunshots is being invited to hit back at crooks by forming Crime Watch groups.
Ward 1 Councilor Tim Cruise said residents were shocked when the peace of their West Side community was shattered by gunshots on Wheeler Avenue two weeks ago.
“People in this neighborhood should not have to hear gunshots and be left too scared to open their doors,” said Cruise, who is encouraging residents to establish Crime Watch groups.

Mayor James E. Harrington
(aka, Der Slappinfuhrer) announced a “zero tolerance” approach to tackling crime in his state of the city address in January.
He is now pushing for the revival of Crime Watch networks, turning vigilant residents into extra eyes and ears for the police.
