BROCKTON - The Service Employees International Union Local 888, which has 9,000 members statewide, is endorsing Jass Stewart for mayor.
Locally, the union represents roughly 400 residents who live in the Brockton area, including employees at City Hall, Brockton Public Library, Brockton Housing Authority and Brockton public schools.

“I'm excited and I am honored to have earned the endorsement of those who work for the mayor,” Stewart said. “I think it speaks volumes to the type of leadership that people are seeking. I look forward to working with our city's employees to build the kind of Brockton we all hope to live and work in.”
The Massachusetts State CAP Council, the political arm of the United Auto Workers, has also endorsed Stewart for mayor, said Don Boehner, former president of UAW Local 1596.
