WEB UPDATE: George Baldwin, well-known Brockton businessman, dies

BROCKTON — George W. Baldwin, a well-known figure in Brockton and a key backer of the proposed power plant, died Wednesday at his home in North Easton.
Baldwin, 59, was the owner and chief executive officer of Corporate Realty Associates of Brockton for the past 20 years.
Baldwin also had worked as community affairs manager for a company that goes by the name of Brockton Clean Energy, which is seeking to build a fossil fuel-burning power plant on Oak Hill Way in Brockton.
Baldwin was also a member and past president of the Metro South Chamber of Commerce; a founder and past president of the Brockton 21st Century Corp., a city-funded development group; a founder and past director of the Brockton Boys and Girls Club; a founder of the Big Brother Association in Brockton; a board member of Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton; and a past director of the Brockton Regional Economic Development Corporation.
