My 17yo son & I will be visiting Cambridge during the Holidays
What is there for a 17yo to do? Any all ages clubs in Cambridge?

1. I don't know about clubs, but Boston is a subway ride away.
In Cambridge, just about anything named 'Square' has interesting places to see. Central Square, Harvard Square, etc.

We have a pretty good collection of museums around here: http://www.masshome.com/museums.html

But our weather this time of year just plain sucks.

4. Thanks. I actually lived in Cambridge at one time.
But that was long ago. I've got a list of other things to do, but thought it might be nice to take my son to a show, if possible. He enjoys that kinda thing.

2. The Middle East in Central Square sometimes has all-ages shows
Most shows there are 18+, which unfortunately doesn't help your son. TT The Bears, which is also in Central, and the Abbey Lounge in Inman Square sometimes have all ages shows as well.

There should be some entertainment option in local free magazines like Stuff, Thw Weekly Dig, Improper Bostonian, and The Phoenix.

3. When are you arriving?
Would you like to hang out and listen to and/or play some music?

And my hidden agenda is, if you're here on Saturday the 22nd, you can see me sing in the Peace Chor-US at the Cantab in Central Square. I'm just about to post about it in the Massachusetts forum. (But I don't think your son can get in.)

10. That place is really rough.
I would not let my 17 year old go there without a chaperone.

13. Where in Cambridge?
There are several excellent music venues in Central Square, so you should grab a Phoenix (free alternative newspaper you can find in most convenience stores etc.) and check the listings for bands doing all-ages shows. TiTi The Bear's and the Middle East are the best bet.

Across the river, there's a place called Jilian's at the end of Landsdowne St. that has all-ages hours; it's got three floors with pool, bowling and video games...and if he's a baseball fan, the place is literally in the shadow of Fenway Park.

Enjoy!
