Wierd eh? Anyway, anyone know what the market is like for journalists there? And what some decent publications or broadcast outfits are?

Boston is a great city.
The Boston Globe is the best big paper, although it's gone downhill since it was bought by the New York Times. It's still miles better then the Herald. The Phoenix is a very good alternative weekly.
The broadcast outfits are WBZ(CBS), WVBF(ABC), WHDH(NBC), WFXT(Fox), WGBH(PBS), and NECN(independent). There are a couple of others, but I never watch them.

| 3. As one of the 40-some million uninsured living in the US, I have |

difficulty understanding why any Canadian would want to leave Canada. I am also unemployed and moving to Massachusetts hasn't helped that situation although I get way more interviews than I did in Maine, probably because I have an impressive resume and sound much younger than I am on the phone. I have almost lived in Massachusetts long enough to apply for the Commonwealth Connector Care which I heard on the Boston NPR station this week is costing millions more than the state anticipated. I am hoping that it doesn't go bankrupt before I get signed up.
Good luck whatever you decide and if you come for an exploratory visit do let us Mass DUers know and maybe we can all get together to welcome you.
Peace,

| 4. There's lots of good journalism here |
|
Public TV & Radio - WGBH (Tv & radio), WBUR (NPR-only radio). Alt-music radio - WFNX, WBCN. I don't watch much TV news, but have liked WHDH in the past and I follow their amusing weather reports & weather blog. Alt-weeklies - Boston Phoenix (also owns WFNX). The Boston Globe is a nationally known paper (and is owned by the NYT). The Boston Herald has a more conservative editorial page but excels at nitty-gritty local reporting. WERS is an excellent student radio station from Emerson College. There's a ton of community newspapers outside of the city too.
I have no idea what the job market is like for journalists.
If you're coming to town let us all here know and we'll steer you to the fun spots.
