BOSTON — State health authorities announced today that another E. coli case linked to ground beef has been identified in a Massachusetts resident, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the state to seven.

Public health interviews with affected individuals revealed that they ate ground beef products from Whole Foods Markets during the month of July, according to a press release from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).

The Massachusetts cases range in age from 3 to 60 years old. They include residents of Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex counties. They reported becoming ill between July 10-29. At least five of the cases were hospitalized.
