NEW BEDFORD — A high-tech, high-intensity sign at the newly remodeled One Stop Gas and Variety Store, located on Kempton Street at Route 140, flashes bright messages to motorists and has strained relations between neighbors and the business owner, reports the Standard-Times.
The sign at the busy intersection, located across from Buttonwood Park and on Dartmouth’s doorstep, measures 2- by 3 feet and is about 15 feet off the ground.
The sign, with its flashing advertisements, has annoyed neighbors, who say it interferes with their peace and well-being.
"It’s impossible to dodge this light anywhere in my house," said Janice Spooner, who lives with her husband and son at 4 Metropolitan Ave., in direct line of the sign’s glare. "My house is lit up like a Christmas tree."
