OFFERS "health insurance". I tried in so many ways to find this out on line.

My 21 yo. daughter just applied for Masshealth to see if she was eligible. She would need to be pregnant, under 19, have a child under 19 or have cervical or breast cancer to get MassHealth. So maybe the state would let her into the Mass. exchange for the other insurance choices.
No go -because her part time job OFFERS 80/20 "insurance" with deductibles she can't afford. In my opinion 80/20 is not even catastrophic insurance and the deductibles mean she couldn't afford to use it. - so she's stuck being uninsured.

If this is the model for the federal program, it will have little impact for most of us except low income workers will be now be required to purchase it.
Most of us won't be allowed to choose the exchange or the P.O.
Anyone who already has crap insurance through work, can't choose it.
As of January, my husband's and my insurance will have deductibles too. Guess they're trying to suck as much money from us as they can before any new regulations take effect.

1. I can understand exactly what you are saying. Although I now have
Medicare at &97.00 a month, the ratio is still 80/20 with deductibles and copays. Stinks. In order for Seniors to get complete coverage, the cost of supplements both for medical treatment and drugs is prohibitive. Since so many of us live on limited income, the cost of adequate coverage takes a huge bite out of Social Security.

Same old story. For those Americans for which money is no problem, insurance is just another thing to buy. For the rest of us, coverage is a hardship that is difficult or impossible to cope with. We are vulnerable and there is not much that can be done. Money to buy, no problem. No extra funds, you're in trouble. Fines because you can't afford it? Disgusting!

I hope your daughter is able to put something together.
