Lynn couple charged with stealing TSA workers infoMay 13, 2010
BOSTON—Federal prosecutors have charged a Lynn couple with selling the names, birth dates, and Social Security numbers of Transportation Security Administration employees working at Logan International Airport.
Michael Derring and Tina White were charged Wednesday with conspiracy, misrepresenting a Social Security number with intent to defraud, possessing 15 or more unauthorized access devices with intent to defraud, and aggravated identity theft.
Prosecutors say between July 2008 and December, Derring obtained the information from his niece, who worked as a contractor for TSA's human resource department.
The couple then allegedly used the identities to open accounts to obtain gas, electric, cable television, telephone and other services for themselves, relatives and friends.
