Gov. Deval Patrick’s campaign raked in more than $20,000 in four days since making an Internet plea for dough to fend off anticipated attacks from the Republican Governors Association, whose negative ads have targeted independent Tim Cahill, the campaign said.
The hefty haul is a signal the national GOP assault on Cahill has backfired, said campaign spokesman Alex Goldstein said.
“Not surprisingly, the voters in Massachusetts are rejecting the negative attack ads on behalf of the (Republican) Charlie Baker campaign,” Goldstein said.
Patrick’s campaign has taken in $20,679 since Patrick’s political guru Doug Rubin posted his plea on the campaign’s Web site May 12.
