THANKS and here's my F911 report

Thank you all so much for trying to alert me to the strangeness with the MoveOn site. But I wasn't even here so I missed it all. I will sure be more careful in the future.

So, I went to Oakdale for the 2:30 Saturday show, there were probably 40 people there and I handed out all 20 of my MoveOn fliers. People were actually asking me for them. Only one person said no thanks, a young man who said he was a republican. I said, "You've come to be enlightened then. Good for you!" Between shows I talked to some very nice people and told them all about DU. My Anyone But Bush t-shirt got lots of compliments, even at the tavern we stopped at on the way home.

I'm sure you've all heard by now that the movie was the top seller this weekend at something like $22 million. We need to get it on tv in October.

So who cried? I heard a number of "oh my god" comments. People did applaud at the end.

2. The MoveOn site

I got an e-mail from them asking me to hand out fliers at the movie. I went to the site and "pledged" to do that and downloaded them. Then I posted the link here so others might do the same thing. Turns out that when others clicked the link they got my info and then someone else's. All this happened after I had left my computer so I wasn't even aware that it was happening until yesterday.

So now my cover is blown. I should probably change my identity. No one will even speak to me anymore because they figure I'm being looked at by the SS. (sigh) The moral here I guess is, check your links before you post 'em.

other MN Du'ers. But I was just sort of goofing on the fact that I never get much response to anything I post anyway. I had just read seventhson's lament in the same vein. Probably has something to do with not knowing how to create emoticons. (this whole forum thing is quite new for me)

feel as though what we post is like a lead weight to a thread. Mn Duers are really great people, so I don't think anyone would snub you. Hang in there, we're all really nice. We're Minnesotans, after all. ;-)

6. Hi! I'm the one who noticed your info was at the link.

I figured out how that happened, it was because the link you pasted in your post was the URL for the page that you had filled out, instead of the URL for the blank page.

I felt really bad that all your info was showing up, and I didn't really know what I could do about it except try to alert you -- oddly enough, the next person to click on that link found some of MY information on there too. That was when I realized that it was the wrong URL. I did what I could to clean up that page, got it down to just showing your email addy and nothing else, but that was the best I could do.

I sincerely hope this didn't cause any serious problems for you. If it makes you nervous that your email addy still shows at that link, maybe you could contact the mod for this forum and ask her to delete that thread altogether -- that's what I would do, for what it's worth.

Anyway, I'm so glad you got to see the movie. Our opening night Lagoon DUer get-together was a blast! I hope you'll be able to join us for another MN DUer gathering one of these days -- it's a GREAT group of folks!

Oh yeah, I DEFINITELY cried at several points during the show. And I really want to see it again...

Good idea. Our nice Indigo person made it all go away. So far it seems no harm done. Maybe I'll get more spam, it will be impossible to tell.

I do hope we get to meet up some day.
