I just got this email from Mike Hatch 2006. Dear Friend:
On Monday Mike announced his candidacy for Governor of this great state. Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd at the Minnesota Nurses Annual Convention, he spoke about his desire to work together to build strong communities where every Minnesotan matters, where there is opportunity for the least among us to prosper and contribute as a part of a strong middle class and where we leave this state better for the next generation.
Barely a week old, the outpouring of support since his announcement has been tremendous. It is clear that Minnesotans from all walks of life and beliefs want to unite to move Minnesota forward. He is honored by the wonderful response his campaign is receiving. We can once again make Minnesota the state that works.
Today, as part of a growing list of supporters, Mike released an initial list of endorsements. Comprised of DFL party leaders, elected officials, former elected officials, organizations and others, this group represents a wide cross-section of people from all parts of the state who believe that we need to change the direction of this state and bring new leadership to the Capitol.
To view the endorsements click here endorsements <http://www.hatch2006.org/endorsements.htm>
Some highlights of the endorsements include:
* 50% of DFL Legislators
* 3 out of 4 Democratic National Committee Members
* 4 out of 8 DFL Congressional District Chairs
* Chairs of both DFL youth organizations
* Only DFL candidate running for Governor to receive any organizational endorsements to date:
SEIU - Service Employees International Union, Minnesota State Council
Minnesota Nurses Association
United Steelworkers of America - District 11
International Union of Operating Engineers Local #49
Mike is proud to stand with these individuals and groups as we prepare for what will be a barrage of negative attacks these upcoming months ahead. The Republicans have already launched their negative attacks -- instead of focusing on the issues Minnesotans care about, they would rather divide and distract us from discussing what really matters. Mike is here to talk about a new agenda for Minnesota and I ask that you join him in this cause. Together we can make a difference.

| 3. Damn. My union already endorsed him. |

Nothing against Hatch, but he's got too much baggage, IMHO. Plus he's got a bit of an ego problem which gets in the way of his effectiveness.
There's still a lot of people that are angry at him for his shenanigans in 1990, which hurt the sitting DFL governor and probably cost us the race (and led to a eight-year GOP domination of the governors office, too).
I'll vote for him if he gets the nomination, but he's not my #1 choice right now.
