I've been telling myself I should get out and register voters.
Might be even more fun if I had some company. Anybody up for hanging out at Lake and Henn a few hours?

I am leaving in about an hour to register folks. It is so exciting to see a young person ask,"C an I vote yet? My birthday is Oct.1st.I'll be 18!"
Just that is worth the experience!

| 2. I'm in the Lake and Henn area fairly frequently, and |
|
it seems to have people registering voters pretty regularly.
I'd suggest picking a busy area that doesn't get so much attention.

| 3. As popular as roller blading? |

Lots of people are registering voters on street corners, in parks and at public events. The less glamorous but more effective method is to hook up with a local candidate and go doorknocking. Candidates and their accompanying campaign workers can not be denied entry to apartment buildings so you can knock on people's doors and ask them if they are registered and get them registered if not. Also remember registering voters is just the first step. They must get call backs to remind them to vote. Please volunteer but do it with an organized group such as a campaign or a 527 so the new voter's name and phone number goes into a database for GOTV.

| 4. The new Progressive Caucus will be hitting the shelters |

...that means the homeless and battered women's shelters, to get these oft-overlooked people registered and VOTING-- by absentee if necessary.
MN has a lot of registered voters already, since it's so easy to do so. It's getting harder and harder to find non-registered voters who are sympathetic to our values.
Keep an eye on www.ProgressiveCaucus.net-- more info should be available there within the next couple days! :hi:
