In light of the situation in Arizona , I think it’s doubly important to show “we are all immigrants” type solidarity!
Please join the May 1st International Workers Day March during this critical moment in the immigrant rights movement. Comprehensive immigration reform is at a make or break point and it is hoped the biggest march possible will occur this year. It’s important to push those in power to be bold in their support of justice and equality as they try to work out the details about what immigration reform will actually look like.
MIRAC and allies will march from Martin Luther King Park at 41st and Nicollet at 2pm.
Also at 2pm, marches with the Minnesota Immigrant Freedom Network will convene at Franklin and Chicago Avenues in south Minneapolis and University and Central Avenues Northeast, respectively.
The marches will meet outside the Republican State Convention at the convention center downtown, before moving on to Loring Park. Both Republican contenders for governor, Tom Emmer and Marty Seifert, have announced their support for the new racist Arizona law, SB 1070--the passage of which promises to give this year's May Day mobilizations nationwide an extra urgency.
