1. Is Chris Smith planning on running for Senate in 2006 2. Is there a law in NJ/the nation that says house members who run for senate have to give up their seat
If the answer to those questions was yes, well then, here is a chance for a Democratic pick-up in the house.
I have heard rumors about the people that plan on running for this seat. The names mentioned on the puke side are Rodney Frelinghuysen and Chris Smith. Since there is almost no way in hell Frelinghuysen's district is going to send a Democrat to congress, I would love to do a little manipulation come 2006.
I'm going to change my registration to Republican and vote for him in the primaries, so that he will have to give up his seat and go down in flames.

I'd love to get rid of Smith, he's been fouling up our district too long. Not sure about the giving up the seat, but I would imagine he would have to. He'd get his ass kicked in the senate race and I have no doubt that a dem would pick up his seat. A large chunk of district 4 are heavy democratic areas

There is no law that I know of saying Smith would have to give up his seat, but he can't run for both Senate and the House, so he would, in reality, have to give up his House seat.
I hope he does run for Senate. He will never get elected statewide and it will finally give Dems a chance to get a good candidate in there. He's been in Congress as long as I've been alive and that has got to stop!!!

| 4. Smith picked up a third stump issue this year. |
|
He is now also against white slavery. Another very daring stand. That's just the kind of priority I need my congressman focused on. :eyes:
Smith is very beatable if we run a solid candidate and a real campaign. Amy Vasquez was a non-factor, as evidenced by the whopping $27,000 she raised. Remember, a good chunk of the 4th used to be the same 12th that dumped Mike Pappas and elected Rush Holt.
Also, the RTL'ers always do well in primaries. Smith has a chance at the Senate nomination.

| 6. What towns in his district tend to be Democratic |
|
I know Hamilton and East Windsor are probably Dem towns, but what else. I do see several of OC's freeper towns are there too.
