CODEY: “DAYS OF SPENDING LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW END TODAY”
Budget Address Calls for Largest Spending Reduction in State History
(TRENTON)-In his FY 2006 Budget Address, Acting Governor Richard J. Codey today unveiled a $27.4 billion budget proposal and delivered on his pledge to reign in spending and restore responsibility to government.
In his speech, Codey spoke honestly and directly about the state’s fiscal situation and proposed a budget that takes aim at the root of the structural deficit; reverses the trend of fiscal gimmicks; calls for the largest reduction in government spending in state history; and, most importantly, is not balanced on the backs of the most vulnerable.
