-The first event ever of its kind in New Jersey. Public Voting Machine Demonstration The Essex County Task Force on Voting Rights &
Essex County Superintendent of Elections Carmine Casciano
Invite all voters to participate in a voting machine demonstration.
July 27th 9am to 3pm
33 Washington St. Newark
Lever voting machines are outlawed on January 1st, 2006 Our state legislators have passed this law. Unless this law is postponed, Essex County must buy new voting machines in 2005.
6 different vendors will be represented. Some vendors equipment is not certified for use in NJ. Your feedback can impact the certification process in NJ. You can recommend which voting machine should replace our old lever machines.
As you know the right to vote is a basic fundamental tenent of democracy. With the long lines in Ohio & Florida last November should Essex County be buying the same kind of machine. Come see for your self.
Vendors in attendance:
Avante Danaher-Gaurdian ES&St Hart-Intecivic Liberty Sequoia
On June 9th the Essex County Freeholders voted 5 to 3 to not fund new voting machines They are not happy wih the choice of voting machines in NJ
Do you trust computerized voting? Most industrialized nations use paper ballots. Except for the U.S.
45% of US counties use optical scanners. Optical scanners are cheaper to buy, cheaper to operate, last longer and are more accurate than touchscreen voting. And they are faster. Optical scanners scan paper ballots.
