| Write-in votes for Codey (or others) – the likely impact? |
|
I know several people who are planning to cast write-in votes for Codey, simply because they’re disgusted with the nasty, negative tone of the campaign. Consequently, neither Corzine nor Forrester appeals to them.
Any thoughts about the impact of write-in votes? Does a vote for Codey = a vote for Forrester?

Forrester. There will not be a groundswell of write-in votes to keep Codey in office.
Anytime Dems split the vote, it means that Republicans win. :(

I know there'll not be enough votes to keep Codey where he is.
Corzine's getting my vote, no question. I think he'll be a great gov. But I can't blame anyone for being disenchanted with his campaign ads. Forrester is all about smear and shameless pandering -- always has been.
I'm appalled that Jon chose to get down in the dirt with Doug.

| 3. Consider this - if Codey wanted to run he should have |
|
But he didn't. So why risk it unless you're really keen on having a rabid repuke as your governor?

I think those who are writing in their votes aren't really seeing the difference between the two candidates. They're just reacting to being turned off by negativity.

You need the support of the bosses first. NJ is a very corrupt system, both Democrats and Republicans have machines. Democrats just have a better one!

| 6. Forrester is not that great either |
|
The conservative base is not happy with Forrester either, so they are more likely to stay home or vote libertarian or weedman or some other protest vote

to be far more likable than both multimillionaires Corzine and Forester, but nevertheless, I will enthusiastically cast my vote for Jon Cozine today.
I don't vote for politicians based on who is the most likable, or who has the nicest looking family, I vote for people who I think will make the best leaders for our state and country. I have no doubt in my mind that Jon Corzine, as a US Senator and former Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, would make an excellent leader for our state, and will fight hard here for progressive values.
I think voting for Codey at this point would be an absolute waste.

I was at the polls all day. Very few people did a write in vote. I think the number was even less than 1%. It is not a given that these write ins would have been all Corzine votes, either, so I'm not sure it will have an impact.

Thanks for the poll report!
I found out that one very staunch GOPer I know was writing in for Codey. That's a good sign.
