The five-acre Anchor Reef site, south of Route 37 and next to the bridge, is the last large, undeveloped parcel in Dover Township that is directly on the Barnegat Bay. "This is a perfect place for a park," deCamp said. "You could have seining at this beach, fishing, crabbing, everything to do with the bay. It would be fabulous for a playground and a boat launch."

So far, they have collected 1,019 signatures. "Basically, we will be collecting signatures until the day it turns into a park," Kenny said.
Kenny and deCamp say there is little public access to the bay in Dover Township for those who want to go fishing or crabbing. The number of public boat ramps also has declined as marinas have been sold for condominium development. "If you're not a member of a yacht club or (don't) have waterfront property, you don't really have access to the bay," Kenny said. "Let's preserve this spot for future generations."
