He lost his bid for mayor, but is still trying to act like he was elected:
"Republican Township Council President Stephen C. Acropolis, Councilwoman Ruthanne Scaturro and Councilman Anthony Matthews took turns criticizing Democratic Mayor Daniel J. Kelly in absentia at the July 10 Township Council meeting.

"He is at the Summerfest concert, which I'm a little disappointed with. I understand if you're on vacation, you're sick, you're out of state, on business. We're here doing the business of the town. I hope that Beatlemania is very good. I hope he enjoys the fireworks. But we are here."
Kelly said after the meeting he thought he should be present at the opening night of Summerfest to represent the township administration. He would have been at the July 10 council meeting, but Summerfest had to be rescheduled from July 3 to July 10 because of inclement weather, he said.
"I was doing the work of the people too," Kelly said. "I was doing what the administration should be doing, welcoming people to Summerfest. I thanked them on behalf of the administration."
There is no legal requirement under the Faulkner Act - the township's form of government - that the mayor attend Township Council meetings, Township Attorney Jean Cipriani said after the meeting."
