August 19, 2004 -- A 47-year-old New Jersey doctor came forward yesterday to claim he is an ex-lover of Golan Cipel, the man at the center of gay-sex scandal involving Gov. Jim McGreevey.
"I was with Golan when he wasn't with Jim," said Dr. Michael David Miller, who described his relationship with Cipel as sexual.

"I was never with him when he was with Jim. I'm monogamous."

Miller's stunning claims directly refute recent statements from Cipel, who has insisted in interviews with the Israeli media that he is straight.

"I like Golan," Miller added. "He can be very affectionate."

Cipel has portrayed himself as a victim of McGreevey's repeated advances, and has threatened to file a sexual-harassment lawsuit. Miller's story could potentially aid McGreevey in court should any lawsuit be launched.

Miller would not discuss details of his supposed relationship with Cipel, but he said he had spoken with the former McGreevey adviser last week and planned to go to Israel to visit him. Cipel fled to his Israeli hometown of Rishon LeZion earlier this week. <snip>

Last night, with his house surrounded by reporters, Miller spoke to the throng in only blue shorts and white socks, his hair disheveled.

At times cursing and erratic, he alternatively told scribes he would talk to them in Hungarian, Spanish or Hebrew.

Miller danced around several questions and refused to provide specifics of some aspects of his alleged relationship with Cipel.

"Golan did something so hateful in Jewish society and so hateful in the gay community that I was shocked," he said, raising his voice.

Miller said he had contributed heavily to the campaign, although a search of the database of the state's Board of Elections could find no donations under his name.

Miller said he spent $100,000 on therapy the year before he got divorced, but he refused to say when that was.
