New Jersey DUers, what do you think of your junior senator?

Personally I've really taken a liking to Jon Corzine in the past few months. It's so common for rich people to be complete Republicans. Corzine is not only a democrat, but a very liberal democrat. I really hope that he doesn't run for governor because we REALLY need him in the senate. I don't see him running for prez in '08, though I guess you can't rule that out, but perhaps the VP nod if the nominee is not a northeasterner. Anyways, one thing's for sure, he beats the hell out of my two senators, Landrieu and Breaux (who is being replaced by repuke Vitter in January).

2. I'm very proud of both our Senators

Unfortunately, my congressman Jim Saxton has morphed from a moderate repug with a strong environmental record into a religious right pandering asshole who sponsored the 'freedom fries' legislation. I've written him many letters. He doesn't like me, but that's ok.

Saxton seems pretty responsive when I bring it up
But yes, Mr. Saxton pretty much is conservative on everything else. I didn't end up voting for him because of that.

6. Yes, he is still strong on environmental issues

And I do have to say he has shown the courtesy to respond to all my letters to him. I've just been very dissapointed in his rightward drift over the years. I couldn't bring myself to vote for the Dem candidate this year either, poor guy didn't even have a website or a position on most of the issues at congress.org. So I ended up voting for the mj party candidate as a protest vote.

I decided I needed to vote for at least one progressive vanity candidate, and Mr. Forchion was the one.

Do you know how the Democratic county freeholder candidates did in this past election. I can't seem to find anything about it.

5. They got killed like usual - +/- 60%-30%

Which is a shame because they were a good ticket, and I think the incumbents would have been very vulnerable if an aggressive campaign was run. They've simply had a lock on power so long that everything negative thats happened in this county for the past 20+ years could be pinned on them. I must've put up a hundred of those Ocean County Tax Revolt signs, which I think was a great slogan, but signs and a last minute flyer aren't enough.
Hopefully we get our act together locally before the next go. :(

I helped get Rush Holt O8) into office before the redistricting. I still volunteer for him, but now I'm stuck with the pathetic fundamentalist, Chris Smith:eyes:. He's not too happy with me, either.
I forced Smith's office to stop the spinning for a minute and admit that he voted for Henry Bonilla's rule change to let Tom DeLay stick around after he is indicted. Now to make that vote cost him by hammering him in the local papers over it, versus someone like Chris Shays who had the guts to stand up to the pressure.
It doesn't take many votes to get these guys out locally. If we keep throwing stones in the pond, the ripples may get noticed.
