Dan *********** letter: Naming street after King is an outrage

The proposal by the Orwellian sounding "Fargo Human Relations Commission" to name a local street after Martin Luther King Jr. is, simply, an outrage. King is easily the most overblown and undeserving idol in recent history. At best, he was a shameless plagiarist who read other peoples' speeches and never entertained an original idea of his own. At worst, he was a willing communist puppet without a trace of genuine, heartfelt principle, and a noted sexual degenerate as well.

It is an insult to serious American patriots that we have a national holiday honoring this cipher and, in the minds of many, traitor to his nation as well as to his fellow blacks. Now we, an overwhelmingly white community with white traditions and values, are expected to name a street after him?

Just keep ramming your ideological agenda down our throats. Some day soon, there will be hell to pay.

And though his political leanings were Republican, I can guarantee you had he still been running that paper, there is no way that letter makes it to print. It is really sad to see how far the Forum has sunk!

5. the Forum will print anything

They do publish letters from liberals, and there are some pretty good letters that they publish, but they also print a lot of really stupid, wacko letters. And they don't seem to bother to check if the letter they print is filled with lies, or else they don't care. For example, here's a few lines from a letter published last sunday.

"A vote for John Kerry is a vote for anti-American movie stars; foreign nations that hate America, racists like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and Julian Bond, liars like Michael Moore, etc.

"Kerry voters should easily recognize that they are voting for a man who admits he was a war criminal, killing, torturing and raping almost every day in Vietnam. (Kerry's words, not mine.) Kerry is supported by a lunatic like Ted Kennedy.

"Kerry is supported by anti-gun nutcases like both the senators from California. Kerry is supported by illegal aliens and people who blame the September 2001 bombings on everyone except the terrorists who carried out the crime."
