Joe Finan passes away

Northeast Ohio Radio legend Joe Finan has passed away, he was 79.

Mr. Finan had been a fixture in Northeast Ohio broadcasting in both radio and television since the mid 1950s. Joe hosted programs on WHK, KYW, WIXY, WNIR and most recently until October of this year on 1350am Radio Free Ohio, WARF-AM. Joe was also the first on camera weatherman at WKYC-TV Channel 3.

Joe was born July 6, 1927. He turned 79 this past summer.

A private burial service will be held this weekend. No Public services are planned at this time.

2. I liked listening to Joe

Did he have a falling out with WNIR or just retire? I listened a bit today (as much as I could take Bob Golic :puke:) and it didn't seem like anyone was talking about it.

His nose-whistle used to drive me nuts though.

He made a return this year to 1350-WARF but I never got a chance to hear him there.
