| Polls, schmolls. We're going to win Ohio, folks. |
|
Look at it this way:
-Gore lost Ohio in 2000 by 3.6% of the popular vote. -New voter registrations are estimated at 25% Republican and 250% Democratic. -Nader is less of a vote-sucker this year. -The polls usually are based on info from "likely voters". ie, people who voted in 2000. They are NOT polling the recently registered.
Do the math. Keep working. Keep fighting. I think we're going to deliver this year.

| 5. Good vibe here as well. |

Not that this observation is anything other than purely anecdotal but... The Kerry yard/window signs are all over the freakin' place in Clark County. I'd say that that they outnumber the B/C signs by at least 20:1.
That means possibly two things.
1) The Kerry supporters have increased by large numbers. 2) The Bush supporters are ashamed to call attention to themselves.
Actually, I believe it's a combination of the two, in which case we'll still see a Democratic upswing in November.

| 10. Pulled up a Poll on VP preference |
|
in the Vindy and it seems that 53.98% of those who voted on the poll prefer Edwards to Cheney in the V-P post. I have been voting in these polls and getting the result and I see things turning. This is the first time that the Dems have been on top. Great going Ohio Dem's.! :kick: :kick: :kick: :kick:

We were on our way back from Dayton and took a side trip on the way. We didn't really have the time either. We got back 5 minutes before I was scheduled to cover the store.
Maybe next time...

| 12. It *is* circumstantial, but I'm really starting to think that... |
|
... it's become "hipper" to sport a Kerry/Edwards bumpersticker on your car than a "W-04" one. I swear, every day on the highway I see more and more Kerry/Edwards stickers.
And, I've never seen so many pro-Dem signs in yards in my years of political awareness. I see so many Kerry/Edwards signs out, and new ones popping up every day, that I can hardly keep count anymore. Even better, many more local Dem candidate signs are in yards, cozying up to the Kerry/Edwards signs!
Ohioans are starting to send signals to one another. It's ok. We're confident. You're not alone. There are many of us.

"Ohioans are starting to send signals to one another. It's ok. We're confident. You're not alone. There are many of us."
It started in the Reagan years with liberal being defined as "bad". Many liberals went into hiding. One of my evenings of quiet celebration came during the Clinton years. I was in a restaurant where liberals were actually bragging about themselves. I was so proud! I wasn't in the group, but these people had the guts to speak out.
I think , Jen, that the jig up up for the republicans. Liberals are feeling confident and empowered. There ARE many of us.
Now for a little phone banking comment. Our local, prominent, convicted, child molester is voting for Bush*. The shrub can have him. He'll find a lot of company in that party.
