we should alert and explain that the tenth thread about how we deserve it is getting to be too much.
These threads were spread out over several forums, so I think the mods might not be aware of how many theads there were and how it really is upsetting to see the same thing over and over.

6. I wouldn't doubt that...

A lot of people really seem to have no idea how widespread this has become, if some of the people I've tried to politely lecture on the point are telling the truth at all.

In some thread yesterday I asked the person making the jokes if they really thought it was funny, and someone else came along and told me to lighten up. I had to walk around the building before I even tried to respond to that. We had a decent exchange afterward, but how it got there shouldn't be necessary.

I'm still pissed. This is becoming a very sore point with me that will reflect on how I view this entire forum. I say that merely as an observation. I'm pretty much an ultra-liberal on most issues. This nonsense has not left a good taste in my mouth about the philosophy of some other supposed liberals. What kind of impression is it going to leave others?

I feel bad because I fell into the trap.

I was wrong to continue to play off of the OP and continue the theme of insensitivity through possible sarcasm when I should have left it alone. As an Oklahoman I am VERY concerned about our fire issues and love our heritage.

LOL...yes it's in my inbox (must have missed it.) I edited my original and still admitting I was wrong for continuing the thread with what some may have viewed as sarcasm and insensitivity. I should have, instead, been in there defending us rather than trying to be a wise guy.

Thanks for the welcome and looking forward to further discussion in 2006.

I agree some forget that there are Democrats in Okla. even though only 34%. We should be even more respected for that fact alone!! Putting up with the other 65% who are, well you know...LOL

7. You weren't being the "wise guy"

I knew exactly what you were saying. Many people on DU try to build their egos by taking shots at folks from the south and it's really getting tiresome. Also, a lot of people on DU get their kicks out of bashing people who are Christians. Consequently, a lot of people who used to post on DU a year or so ago, no longer come to this site....and I can certainly understand why. I primarily visit DU for the news, but sometimes run across threads smearing my home state and that is when I get pissed off. Again, welcome to DU.
