| So Istook is running for governor, eh? |
|
I've been out of Oklahoma for several months now, but I try to keep up ... recently, through an OU email account I still have, I got an Istook for governor campaign email. I'd heard he might be considering a run in the primary.
So will there be a GOP primary battle again this time around? Is there another 3rd party candidate on the horizon, or perhaps a strong primary opponent to engage in some mutual destruction with Istook before the general election?
I must admit, when I saw that email, I almost convulsed at the thought of governor istook. So what's the outlook?

A lot of republicoids are yammering about the governor's office. Some are pissed the lottery got passed and want to end it, but that won't go over well except with the ultra-fundie crowd. Others are playing off the rather real fact Henry hasn't really done anything except get the lottery passed. Istook is being more public about it at the moment, but he's not alone by any means. Vince Orza, for example, has shown up on a lot of local news shows about various issues as an "expert." Orza wants to be governor so bad I suspect he has sexual fantasies about it. He'll announce eventually.
There are others.
Give it a few months, and you'll see the field. Istook is just among the first, but he's by no means the last.
What will be interesting is whether the Dems have a primary. If they do, the next governor of OK will be a Republican.
