But these numbers are similar to the initial figures in the Brad Carson / Some Republican race for Senate in '04. The Republican leader in the beginning was being beaten badly in the polls by projected Dem winner Carson. In the end, Coburn took the Repug nomination and demolished Carson in about two weeks. Even on election night, polls showed the race with the margin of error, and Coburn won it going away.
IOW 27 points isn't enough. Istook needs to be discredited entirely, and I really wish he had a strong opponent in the primary to take shots at him to help accomplish that.

| 3. Gubernatorial races are a lot less partisan than Congressional races... |

Istook and the GOP will not be able to spin a vote for Henry as a vote for Kennedy and Boxer as they did with Carson. Henry's approval ratings are among the best in the country. I think he'll be ok.

The problem, as I see it, is that Henry will be prevented from doing anything even moderately controversial from now until the election. I can't take that too far because, other than the lottery, he hasn't done a great deal that is even mildly controversial, which is why he has high ratings among Okies.
OTOH, if you watch the evening news, Channels 9 and 4 especially have been running a lot of stories lately about gambling problems. Channel 9 recently did a series of stories on the impact of the lottery, and the producers focused entirely on the negative, to the point of running contradictory stories about how the expected influx of revenue was not as high as originally expected while at the same time doing a story about gambling addiction and how the lottery has negatively affected Okies with this problem.
I see all these stories as anti-Henry campaign adds, especially when that idiot Kelly Ogle does them.

I should have had him on my list of things I won't miss about oklahoma. :eyes: Thanks for your two cents, kelly :puke::rofl::eyes:
I'm not surprised that he'd be running anti-lottery stories.
