Special Message from Chief Chad Smith

Since I have been in office, I have made it Cherokee Nation policy to stay out of state and federal elections. But this November, there is a compelling reason for us to change that stance. The U.S. Senate race offers citizens and employees of the Cherokee Nation a clear choice that will effect the future of our people for at least a generation.

Congressman Brad Carson, a Cherokee citizen, is running against Tom Coburn, a former Congressman, to represent Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate. In this race the difference between the candidates on Indian issues is black and white.
