Oregon levees at risk, Corps survey shows

Several Oregon levees, including some protecting farmland, are at risk of failing, according to an annual survey conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. And dozens of others could be at risk.

In the visual inspection survey conducted last year, four Oregon levees, including three near Astoria and one near Nehalem, were determined in need of improvements.

At least 10 others - levees that once were part of the federal dike inspection program - are thought to be at risk of failing. And dozens of others have never been inspected by federal officials ...
