Hey ... does anyone have a link for the ruling that just came down (Nov. 2?) on buttons/T-shirts
There was apparently a ruling from a higher court on being allowed to wear buttons, T-shirts in to vote. I heard something on NPR about it this morning (Nov. 3) ... something about it being left up to the counties to decide??? And where's a list of the counties that will allow you to wear gear?

1. Just found a list of the counties that allow gear ...

... Masland notes a third ruling upheld a state memo saying voters should be allowed to wear campaign t-shirts and buttons to vote, but adds the final decision belongs to the counties. There are 11 midstate counties that allow voters to wear campaign apparel: Berks, Columbia, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Snyder, Union, and York counties.

2. Formal opinion was not issued
I just looked at the official posting of Commonwealth Court opinions, and there is not an opinion for this case. I understand Judge Simpson turned down the GOP attempt to get an order to enforce a ban on political clothing. However, the Judge did not order an alternative. Therefore, he left it up to the counties.

In addition to the counties listed above, Carbon, Lehigh, Philadelphia, Northampton, York and Montgomery have said they will not turn away a voter because of their clothing. The only one that said they would enforce a ban that I found was Monroe.

4. Political clothing, buttons not allowed
Political buttons and clothing have never been allowed inside at my polling place in Montgomery County. We have been told that they won't be allowed inside for this election in Montgomery County.

5. (An anecdote) Interestingly,
I saw a guy @ my polling place in Sanatoga, PA (MontCo) wearing a shirt that said in giant lime green letters, "SARAH PALIN IS A C**T." He had a jacket on over it but the jacket was opened so I was able to deduce what it said. I complimented him on it and REALLY wanted a photo, but didn't want to draw attention to him.

After I complimented him, the middle-aged woman in front of me asked me, "Sarah Palin is a what?" to which I replied, "A horrible, nasty word."

She processed for a second or two and then gave an almost Edith-Bunker-like, "Ooooohhhhhhh," then turned and confided in me, "She sure is!!"

HAhahahahahahah!!! Great way to start my day!!! :D

I have always avoided wearing gear into the polling place, even though I'd like to. My real question is whether photos are allowed inside the polling place?
