| Repug outsourcing to Philly on WV hillbilly ads |
|
If the repugs have to come to PA to cast pro-repug hicks for tv ads, I'm offended that they'd outsource it to those city slickers from Philly. Those people are practically New Yorkers, they're east coast elitist urban sophisticates. There are plenty of Pittsburghers who do a mean West VA impersonation, are unemployed, and are right by the panhandle. I can say 'Yur fahhrd!' in lieu of 'you're fired!' as well as the next fake repug. Also, 'it's time to "redd-up" Worshington' is in my repertoire.
This tin ear to nuance, in casting, is reminiscent of the repug effort to ram 'Joe' the 'Plumber' down Western PA's throat in '08. Remember how McCain visited us umpteen hundred times, after he pulled out of Michigan,to show a plausible reason why our region should go repug (when counted by repug corporation e-voting machines)? His only excuse, in political media trend terms, was Joe the Plumber (and maybe a little Ashley Todd).
The next obvious step, for the repug campaign, is for their Senate candidate to trot out Phil Gramm. He can call W VA a 'state of whiners', who are in a 'mental depression'. Diebold and ES&S can then use this televised Gramm smoke-screen, to call the election on behalf of the repugs.
If it's not close, the repugs can't steal it. And everyone knows what's going on here.

| 1. As a Philly native I am offended by your description of us, but I have lived in western PA |
|
for more of a few years now and I do agree that Pittsburghers and those in the surrounding suburbs would make great "hicks". Gosh, I here people at my supermarket call shopping carts buggies.

| 2. Wow. You "here" people calling shopping carts 'buggies'? |
|
Most people here in Western PA 'hear' that sort of thing. :eyes:

| 3. So you call a shopping cart a buggie? I live in Western PA now |
|
having moved from South Carolina where they call shopping carts buggies. Being from Philadelphia originally, I figured that term was just a Southern term picked up by some people in Western PA from those who had come from West Virginia. Call it what you will, I prefer shopping cart.

| 4. That hill billy family from 'Always Sunny in Philly' didn't fool anyone |
|
except Karl Rove, apparently. (The McPoyles?) You uns ('yinz' is the hoidy toidy way of spelling it) from Philly are clearly underqualified to play the nazi hillbilly in the repug ads, with your chic, cosmopolitan, and international ways. Carts? Buggies? We go shoppin down the Strip and toss the comestibles straight off the feed store dock into the open bed of the pick up, with no need for effete new-fangled 'parking lots', or even fully paved roads.
In short, if you want to 'rent a rube repug' or 'hire a countrified concerned citizen', look no further. Pittsburgh's fine film office can fill your casting needs. I hear those scabs from the Philly ads got busted, going for sushi at lunch time, during the filming of Rove's commercial.
