Patrol: Trooper didn't know who (Andre) Bauer was when he let him go

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - "SC Two" might not be an official designation for the lieutenant governor, but it's something troopers might logically associate with South Carolina's No. 2 official, the commander of the state Highway Patrol said Wednesday.

The trooper who waved Andre Bauer on after the lieutenant governor had been clocked driving 101 mph last month "knew the individual driving the vehicle to be someone in government, perhaps in law enforcement or perhaps some elected official," said Col. Russell Roark.

Bauer was pulled over along Interstate 77 in Chester County after troopers observed him driving more than 100 mph on a wet highway. The speed limit in that area is 70 mph.

The trooper would have been under this impression because Bauer, 37, was driving a state-issued car - similar to an unmarked police car - and had been using a state-issued two-way radio to communicate with Highway Patrol, Roark said.

I hope he doesn't end up killing someone like Rep. Janklow. Republicans just don't believe that laws apply to them, do they?
