NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Charlotte Avenue in front of Walgreens, the intersection of Charlotte Avenue and White Bridge Road and the 204 exit ramp towards White Bridge Road off of Interstate 40 have all been closed due to a gas leak.
Late Tuesday morning, a full hazmat crew responded to the scene at Charlotte Avenue in front of Walgreens after NES hit a gas line while repairing a poll.
Metro Nashville Fire Department was also on the scene to contain the situation and prevent an explosion.
NewsChannel 5's Jeff Tang reported from the scene that the Walgreens and other surrounding businesses have been evacuated.
NES said the gas has been shut off, and they were waiting for the gas company to repair the situation.
