| Lamar Smith Town Hall Meeting Saturday 4/23 |
|
CD21 Town Hall Meeting If you live in Congressional District 21, Lamar Smith's district, we encourage you to attend his first 'Town Hall' meeting this Saturday. Representative Smith sits on the House ethics committee, the committee which has recently proposed a subcommittee to review various allegations concerning travel and other actions by Mr. DeLay. This is the same committee that pushed through rule changes in January that would cause a complaint to be dismissed. This will be the first such meeting in Smith's district this year and an opportunity for constituents to pose questions to Rep. Smith on important issues such as his views on privatizing Social Security and his defense of Tom DeLay. For more information his website is: www.lamarsmith.house.gov
The two meetings on Saturday, April 23, are set as follows: 10:00 AM – Wimberley Junior High Cafeteria, 200 Texan Blvd., Wimberley 1:00 PM – Hill Country Senior Citizens Center, 1310 West Hwy. 290, Dripping Springs

Does your massa Mistah DeLay know you're nothing but a lowdown yellow-bellied coward?

| 3. LAMAR, I'd sure as hell see you if you came to Austin. |
|
I can't make it to either of these venues - but thank you for posting it. I notice he never responds to my letters or emailed comments.
Weasel, you're next.

| 4. I went to the Wimberly 10:00 a.m. meeting |

I'll post a report later but he did get some flack on Tom DeLay on the energy bill, on the ethics committee, on minding our own business (i.e. stay out of places like Iraq), on Shavio, etc.
I think he was a bit surprised it wasn't "bidness" as usual. Still a civil event, but he did get an earful. He had his faithful with him and then he had that unsettled element in the crowd ready to challenge Congress. The only good thing I heard from him, is that he's filed two Freedom of Information Act bills to increase FOIA requests.
I think our home town rag editor Richard Oppell was in the audience. At least it sure looked a lot like him.
