| Kerry in a Statistical Dead Heat In Houston |
|
The newsstation reported a 5 o'clock that in a poll that surveyed one thousand people Bush only lead by about three points. The number were 46%-Bush 43% Kerry. In addition, Kerry leads Bush by twenty points in the Midland area. Bush leads Kerry in other places in the state including San Antonio/Austin and Dallas, but I think this is good news. Kerry is giving Bush a slight run for his money and he is not even spending real money in the state. I have seen a sizable amount of Kerry bumper stickers in Houston. I really believe we can win this state or come close to winning it.

| 6. Gore carried Houston by 4% in 2000 |
|
Al Gore carried Harris County by about 4% back in 2000. In 2001 and 2003, we elected democrats as Mayor here in Houston. The 2001 race had both Bush 41 and Babs and Bush 43 campaigning for the repug canddiate.
This is nice news but not surprising. Dallas is where Bush is strong.

| 19. Gore carried Houston, NOT Harris County |
|
We don't even have a countywide judgeship or anything else, since the greedy rethugs caved to the religious-wrong, because they needed the numbers, not because they have a speck of respect for them.
Those of us who have wisely chosen to remain in the city can carry it for Kerry, but very unlikely we can pull in the burbs.
Come November, I will be thrilled to be proven wrong.

My jaw dropped! Way to go Harris County!
(I have no hope whatsoever for Montgomery, Ft. Bend, Brazoria, etc. and other surrounding counties...except maybe Galveston)
Yet another reason for people to not give up on Texas.
On Edit: I don't know why they lumped San Antonio and Austin with *East* Texas....San Antonio and Austin should be lumped with the Valley, Laredo and Corpus, IMHO.

I have noticed a whole bunch of Kerry bumper stickers. I think a lot of the Democrats around here are tired of hiding! There is also the "W 04" stick with the slash through it. I would say I'm probably seeing as many Kerry stickers as Bush 04 stickers.
I think Kerry is gonna try to keep the campaign as clean as possible, but wouldn't be surprised if things got a little, um, personal the last week or two of the campaign. I think if Kerry pulls away after the GOP convention, he'll leave the dirty stuff off the table.

Kerry leads Bush in the Midland area. It is exactly the opposite. Midland County is one of the most heavily Republican counties in the state. The surrounding counties, unfortunately, are much the same.

No way Kerry is leading Bush by 22% in Midland. 2% would be a major upset out there.
Add to that, Bush getting creamed in Midland and leading in Austin??????
It doesn't make sense.
Plus, I don't doubt Kerry is leading in Houston, but in Harris County??
This just doesn't ring true, but it does sound like Channel 2.

All I see are bumper stickers for Kerry, almost none for Bush. In 2000 by this time the Bush tags were all over the place in the 'burbs where I lived at the time. We're coming around!

Republicans do not agree with the NeoCons. Most people do not go along with the fascist thugs. We can win if we only let people learn what the shrub really stands no stoops for. You know no minimum wage. Rule by the American Tali ban. Extend the Death penalty to everything. Ban all Abortions. Send all public education money to state approved 'religious' schools. Gut the Endangered Species Act.

| 21. What I have seen in San Antonio and Houston... |
|
I see just as many Kerry/Edwards stickers as W '04 Stickers here in San Antonio. When you hear people on the street all you hear them talk about is Kerry. People at my work (mostly young people) talk about how horrible Bush is and voting for Kerry.
My grandparents live in Houston and both voted for Bush in 2000 but have made up their mind awhile ago that they will be voting democratic this year. My grandpa by they way is very political in the Houston area and comes from the banking business (He even worked with daddy Bush years ago). He is trying to recruit some of his church friends to vote Kerry as well and that would be huge, he is on the board at the church and that is a huge church in the memorial area.
My mom's best friend (who has always her whole life be a democrat and very political) of course will be voting for Kerry, but the good news is she lives in the Woodlands and has seen a huge increase of people in the Woodlands that will be voting Kerry. Her daughter has said some of her friends at school have seen their parents loose their high cooperate/ management level jobs in Bush's economy. Her son is hilarious. He goes around and all he talks about is how much he hates Bush and he wishes he could vote (he is 12).
So I think that Texas will be alot closer than people think and I think Kerry has a good chance here.
