| Legal type question on a flyer for candidates. |
|
I have prepared a flyer showing all of the Democratic candidates for Dallas countywide offices (judges, sherriff, tax assessor), with a short blurb from their website and contact information. I would like to be able to give this to people for educational purposes in lieu of carrying around push cards for all 7 candidates. The thing is that I am not sure if this flyer is LEGAL as I know that campaigns are not allowed to coordinate with each other.
I am a private citizen who is not working for any of the candiates although I have volunteered for many of them.
Advice, ya'll?
Thanks, C

I don't know about legally but horse sense wise sounds OK to me. Yes I know common sense and the law don't always go together.

Free speech and all. The gotta might be in McCain-Feingold. It you mention Federal office candidates, or if the effort gets to large (something like $1000) you may fall under M-F and have to declare your funding and/or declare the value as "in-kind" contributions to the campaigns involved. You should be able to get help from the Dem party in your home state. Most all of them have a compliance officer to review such matters.
