I caused me to have the shakes for a whole afternoon, but I broke down and sent checks to both Edwards and Stenholm. I'm a progressive / liberal but even blue dogs look good up next to the likes of Arlene and Randy.
Arlene is the meanest woman alive and a bubble off plumb to boot. Randy is just Tom DeLay's tool.
Redbear - appreciate the post and any help you're giving Chet.

district (blue dog) which has been redistricted to be Edwards in the fall (he apparently also a blue dog). I'm distubed, and have been, over some votes that he's made in the last session and this one. For example, today, he and Stenholm both voted with the Republicans about the Pledge vote. He also voted with the Repubs on the Defense of Marriage Act, against the Patriot Act amendment that came up a couple of months ago, etc. yes, I'm going to vote for him because he's better, by far, than Arlene. And a whole lot of Republicans feel that way, too. Apparently he believes that in order to win this district he needs to blur the fact that he is a Democrat and avoid any votes that uphold the constitution but are wedge issues. I have a hard time respecting that. So, my mental compromise is to vote for him, but I cannot get enthusiastic about working for his election the way I have been for Kerry. I will leave that to others for whom those constitutional issues are not critical.

Dac, all I can say is hold your nose and vote. I understand completely. I catch double fireant hell from the blue dogs for wondering out loud where they got lost on the pathway to the progressive righteousness of Sam Houston or James Hogg.
I wish we had the pleasure to be picky, but this year we don't, dangit. Maybe if you'd send Edwards an email to tell him he's got your vote ONLY because he's the lesser of two evils, and that he should never intrepret your vote as support. Probably won't do any good, but at least you'd feel better.
(Let's get together after the election and find some real Democrats!)
