Diana's great, she's a very nice person and amazingly qualified.

In Texas, county tax assessors perform many functions, including collecting fees from vending machine operators, issuing auto license tags and registering cars and boats. But the heart of the job is collecting taxes owed by property owners to the county and to other local jurisdictions that contract with the county to collect their taxes.

One year might be a fluke, but for the past 10 years Dallas County's collection rate has consistently lagged those of Tarrant, Travis and Bexar counties. If Mr. Childs' office had been as effective as the other three, averaged, Dallas County's coffers would have been fatter by $43 million over that period.

Fortunately, voters have an excellent alternative. We feel confident that Ms. Lackey can take the tax office to the next level. The presidential election may get most of the attention, but Americans will have a full ballot on Nov. 2.

Usually they will endorse corrupt right wingers and then SUGGEST that they act not-so-corrupt.

Like the whole school finance disaster. The DMN is always upset about it but then ENDORSES the same fuckers that caused the problem in the first place!!!

Thus Lackey's endorsement was a shock!!!

they will also endorse Lupe Valdez as sheriff. She is imminently qualified. The woman is a tireless dynamo and would be great in that position. The DMN once said something to the effect of, I'm paraphrasing here, if the Democrats have a chance to win that would be Valdez. :)

9. God I hate that piece of crap paper

I have written so many letters to the editor, and even had quite a few published, that the letter to the editor knew by first name. However, over a three years ago I gave up and stopped taking the rag. FW Star-Telegram is more to my taste.
