I drove past the Ted Poe headquarters in Beaumont
and had a thought. That billboard about Nick pisses me off so bad that I think I am going to make a posterboard sign that says "Ted Poe eats babies" and stick it in front of his headquarters. I know it probably wouldn't last long but I would feel better.

1. You could color Poe black, make several copies of him eating babies
and stick them in lawns starting in Vidor

2. I think I like that idea better.
My brother is good at the photoshopping. I will see if I can get him to work on the "black" thing.

And Poe could be saying "Where all the white women at?"

4. I am in the dark here.
What's the deal with Ted Poe? And what does the billboard about Nick says? I have seen tons of Ted Poe for congress signs all down 1960.

5. It's awful
The billboard says "Do you support HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE? Liberal Nick Lampson does!" - or something like that. And it has some website listed for you to find out all the horrible liberal things that Nick has done while in Congress- surely complete distortions.

Ted Poe is a fringe right winger who actually used to sit on the bench in Texas. He was the media darling for handing out "creative" sentences to offenders, like making johns picket in front of the courthouse with a sign saying "I solicited for sex" and other nonsense. All that he really did was provide ways to let certin defendants off the hook while still sending the- ahem- darker variety criminal to the jailhouse.

Nick's not perfect, but he's good for the area and has really done a lot to help SE Texas. Poe would be another nightmare.

6. This morning at my park and ride there was a guy standing
there with a large Ted Poe sign. Not handing out anything....just standing. I sure hope he loses.

7. The RCCC is running TV ads attacking Nick in Houston
He (or the DCCC) must respond, and NOW, to these.

How's the polling in this contest, anyone?

8. Polling. statistical dead heat
He has come from 15 points behind to a statistical dead heat.
Nick has out raised poe 3 to 1.

Poe is resorting to all the dirty tricks you would expect.

Turnout is going to decide this. And I think the Turnout might be in our favor....

9. Call me the pessimist
I'm seeing waaay too many Shrub bumper stickers in SE Texas. Far more than in 2000, even. I'm afraid that my hometown/county may actually vote for the man this time, even though it hasn't in any other election he's been in.

And I'm afraid that his support will turn into downballot repubs winning, too. God, I hope I'm wrong on this.

11. Poe's running ads everywhere over here in Houston
Just saw one on Charles Osgood's CBS Sunday morning.

Nick really needs to work the west side of the district a little harder.
