Employers in Texas can expect tax hit for jobless fund
AUSTIN — Texas employers next year will pay more than twice the $1.09 billion in jobless insurance taxes they are paying this year and the tab will go up after that, according to estimates released by the Texas Workforce Commission Tuesday.

Under state law, the state's unemployment trust fund is supposed to stand at 1 percent of taxable wages, or about $860 million. The fund has been depleted in the wake of high jobless claims.

As a result, employers will have to pay more to restore the fund to its mandated level, although the commission tried to cushion the blow by spreading the deficit assessment over several years..............

1. in the meantime
the state will secede, allowing it to print its own money to address the deficits. See, R Perry is smarter that he looks.

2. I wonder if Goodhair is still ignorantly proud of himself
for turning down the $555 million in additional federal stimulus money for unemployment?

5. Yeah, I was filing for unemployment right when he had to take out that loan to cover UI a few months
ago. Luckily I was only unemployed for 3 weeks, but my good friend was just laid off from her company and part of me worries about if the fund depletes while she's drawing it.

BTW, she's checking into the program that you can draw unemployment while going to school. She won't find out more about it until she's been approved for the UI benefits though.

Keep us posted. I didn't know about that program. It may be beneficial to others looking to get new skills.
