I don't think he's softening his boneheaded position on anything bad.
I saw the article as more of promoting natural gas as a clean energy and trying to set them up for credits - i.e. subsidizing them.
...Natural gas should be the bridge to a low-carbon energy future while playing a key role in developing the next generation of energy, such as solar and wind power.
I can see why corndog would support that. Texas after all produces a lot of natural gas plus I'm sure that industry gives corndog a lot of contributions.
I prefer skip giving natural gas any more tax breaks and go directly to renewable resources. That makes more sense for the future economy for Texas.
