SA Express TX Politics blog 12/29/09Rep. Frank Corte announces retirementState Rep. Frank Corte, R-San Antonio, who has represented District 122 since 1993, just announced his retirement.

Corte said he is not endorsing anyone to replace him at this time. Denise Barnhill is the only candidate who has filed for his seat.
Corte has carried legislation to protect private property from eminent domain. He also was unsuccessful in trying to pass a law requiring women to undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion.

District 122 has 73 percent Anglo population, with 63 percent of the district earning $50,000 a year or more. In last year's elections, Republican presidential nominee John McCain received 64 percent of the district's vote, according to Texas Legislative Council records.
Doesn't look great for a D pick up opportunity, but can't say I'm sad to see Corte go. Now if we could only persuade Debbie Riddle and Betty Brown to join him in retirement.
