1. I live in Texas

and there is a VIABLE tea-bagger about to unseat a long-term Democrat in our district. Scarier than shit and I do believe it will happen.
There are some scary folks out there right now. Don't automatically kill the message because you consider it Texas-bashing...but keep in mind it wasn't the urban areas that elect a POTUS in Texas(they are predominantly blue), it is all of the backwoods, knuckledragging, firebreathers in the rural areas (overwhelmingly red) that elect the officials here.

10. 99% of us posting in this forum live in Texas

We know about the rural areas and we know about the 51%ers who believe in intelligent design in Texas.

It's one thing for those of us in this forum to make fun of us and to work for a better Texas, it's quite another when the above Texas forum DUers just drag us out for a public whipping.

I agree with you that we have plenty of reason for concern on the knuckledragger front in Texas. However I do not believe it is constructive for the above grounders to constantly bash us and give us no help. They can always send our candidates money or fight for us in some other way. But no, their only interest is to drag us out for constant humiliation.

We won't stand for that shit.

Any state OTHER THAN NY or CA & sometimes MA that does something that offends the High Holy Blue Staters gets the same treatment. I was aghast at the vitriol displayed against the fine people of Maine who worked their asses off to defeat the anti-gay marriage amendment only to lose by a small percentage of the vote.

Texas last week. He said that he didn't care if Texas did secede because we are a state that uses more taxes and pays out less. Might be true, but I don't think it's right to throw us Dems from Texas under the bus because our state happens to unfortunately be red. I was really SURPRISED and somewhat hurt to hear him say this. I've come to expect this from some on DU, but to hear this from a progressive that I admire and respect was upsetting. Also, you're right about donating to help our cause. I've donated many times to other Senators from other states because I want our country to keep and turn as many states blue as we can. I just absolutely cannot understand the hatred for Texas Dems. But, there's one thing for sure, I don't lose any sleep over it.

Texas is a net contributor state. For every dollar Texas pays in as federal taxes we get back 94 cents.

I can't find the link right now, but it was widely discussed during Perry's call for secession. Everyone that wanted to boot Texas had to be given the facts that Texas sends in more money than she takes out.
