Why the State party just lost any $ it would get from me
I found out the other day that in a highly contested judicial race, the State party gave money to the REPUBLICAN running on the Democratic ballot instead of either of the 2 Democratic ones. :grr: How do I know this person is a Republican? (A) She told me herself (B) in her commercial, she used known local Republicans as supporters and most egregious of all (C) She has consistently send campaign contributions to Republicans, including Shrubbie, McCain, & Perry.

:nuke:

:wtf: is going on up in Austin? Don't they check this stuff out before they hand out the cash? No wonder we can't win anything if they're this stupid.

2. The state party is giving away money to a candidate in the primary?
This doesn't sound right. They aren't supposed to take sides in the primary.

Are you taking the word of the Democrat/closet republican candidate that she got money from the state party?

Take it up with your SDEC committeewoman/man for your senate district. Give them the facts and let them bring it up at the next SDEC meeting.

Are you sure it wasn't a PAC or something else like that?

3. It was in the paper
one of her supporters wrote an LTTE saying that she was a Democrat because she was the only candidate in the race to get $ from the state party (in response to the other candidates pointing out her contributions to the Rs). She hasn't issued a retraction of that & it's been over a week.

4. In the paper? dg that's not good enough to substantiate the "truthiness" factor

I guess you'll have to wait until the campaign finance reports are filed for this quarter and check out who made contributions to her. There will be a record at the TEC.

You can do a search for the candidates reports to date, since you know the candidate's name here:
http://www.ethics.state.tx.us/dfs/search_CF.htm

Or Texans for Public Justice also did a download of the contributions to date and you can peruse the candidate financial information here. They have all statewide candidates as well as Texas Senate and Texas House races here:
www.tpj.org/

I'm assuming you're talking about a House race. That one is here:
info.tpj.org/reports/primary2010/AllHouse.html

Edited because you said judicial race, and I have no idea if local judicial races have to file reports with TEC. I'm hoping they do, but I don't know.

You can click on a candidate's name and download the information in excel format/CSV (comma separated values).

Let us know what you find out.

5. Well, she has not put out a statement denying that
and she runs with the Partido Viejo, the old, very corrupt political clique that used to run Laredo. Made sense to me when I read it, knowing as I do who the state party meets with when they come down here.

6. I doubt if this is true
First the party doesnt take sides in the primary and second as cash strapped as we are they save their money for the general election and if they have any will support the ticket.

7. I am positive no money goes to primary candidates from the
state. Our county party is not allowed to give them $$$ during the primary.
