help cause some chaos in the other party? Or is Perry too far ahead?

A run-off in the GOPers gov. race would cost them funds that would take away from the general.

I've thought about it, but there are some Dem candidates I kind of would like to support.

Vote for Hank in the Ag Race. Make sure we don't have to put up with any more Kinky craziness this election cycle. A far better use of your vote than Medina.

I wanted to vote for. They weren't stamping cards during early voting this year, which surprised me. (They weren't doing this for either D or R voters and yes, I kept the receipt which indicates I voted in the primary.)

They will be able to tell what primary you voted in at the PCT caucus because they will have the poll book. One of the first tasks of the pct convention is to sign in and the chair or their helpers compare the list of attendees with the poll brook from the PCT.

If you're not on it, you can still participate as a provisional voter. Later when it is determined you actually voted in the Democratic primary - your vote will count.

The card or your receipt is back up for you, but the poll book should be accurate.

Remember never to vote twice in Texas - it is a felony. If you voted in the Democratic primary, you can only caucus in the Democratic primary. If you voted in the republican primary - you can not caucus with the Democrats.

I look up precinct data all the time, and I know who voted and for what party. Everybody does, which is where mailing lists come from! :)

they actually had signs up today reminding folks to show up for the precinct conventions. I'll be there with bells on, although I doubt more than 5 people will show up this time.

You can only vote in the runoff of the primary you participated in. So if you voted in the R primary, you can only vote in the runoff of the R primary.

One exception - if you didn't vote in either primary. Then you are a free agent and can vote in any runoff for either party. At that point you are making a choice to vote in a particular party primary. You are branded for this year to that party primary.

Some people who didn't vote in the primary may want to sign a ballot access petition for another party - for example the green party. They can not vote in a runoff if they plan on signing a petition for another party. Signing a petition for a 3rd party is akin to voting in a primary.

They can change their minds however. If they want to forget saving themselves for another party then they can vote in the runoff for either party.

I'm a precinct chair, for one thing, and for another, there are so many judges I want to vote for in contested races.

And, if I ever did some dang fool thing like vote Republican, I'd miss out on the Senatorial District Convention and the State Convention, besides getting kicked out as Precinct Chair.

Collin County is so Republican that most local races don't have a Democratic candidate at all, much less a primary battle. I'm counting on all of you to get Gilbert and White on the ticket.

16. I was kind of horrified when I compared the R and D sample ballots

and saw how many races will be unopposed in November. Quite a few of them have tea partiers in the running, so I look upon it as my chance to cast a vote for the most sane of the lot.

Local offices where I come from are solidly Democratic, but all unopposed except for a Justice of the Peace position. Voting for some nuts in the Repug primary, and hopefully being able to force Perry into a runoff, probably would have been more interesting than voting in the mostly noncontroversial Democratic primary but I just can't quite stomach picking up a Repug ballot. Scared I'd end up on one of their mailing lists or something... :scared:

I decided there were too many down ticket races I wanted to vote for (including Gilbert). Plus, I didn't want that icky feeling of asking for the republican ticket. On my sign in sheet I did see that I was the only person that had asked for the democratic ballot. I proudly said it too. :)

I voted Democratic to insure Hank Gilbert is our candidate for AG Commish. And so far, it looks like he's going to beat that jerk, Friedman! Wheee!
