Gov. Rick Perry named on ethical worst list
Okay, a group called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has released its list of 11 governors with a record of ethical and campaign law violations. CREW, begun in 2003, is a nonprofit aimed at exposing government misdeeds.

On their list, Perry was lumped in with scandal-tarred Mark Sanford of South Carolina and David Paterson of New York. Paterson and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson were the only Democrats on the list.

Perry was cited for a number of things covered in newspaper reports: his trip to the Bahamas with campaign donors and conservative friends to ostensibly discuss school finances. That way his campaign could pay for the trip.

Also, his refusal to release his briefing materials in the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham, who was convicted of killing his children in a house fire. Seven national arson experts have since looked at the case and found there is no credible scientific evidence of arson.

1. 2010: Perry On "Worst" List
Liberal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which is based in DC, does not think very highly of Republican Gov. Rick Perry. In a just-released list of the 11 “worst governors,” they lump Perry in with the scandal-ridden likes of Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina and New York's Gov. David Paterson, one of two Democrats on the list (the other is next-door neighbor Bill Richardson of New Mexico).

Perry's reelection campaign was unfazed by the report. "The governor has one of the strictest ethics policies in the nation," said spokeswoman Catherine Frazier, citing a Sunshine Week study that ranked Texas first in online transparency. "Governor Perry is very proud of the policies he’s put in place to increase and strengthen transparency in state government. He has led the charge on many fronts to improve transparency at all levels of government and has always spoken of the importance of upholding that. So, his record speaks for itself."

3. Notice that 8 of the top ten are Rs
Not really surprising - 80% of the republicans are corrupt. Sounds about right to me. Although with a margin of error of 10% it could easily be 90%.

Bill Richardson making the list - now that was surprising. I can understand Gov. David Paterson (D-NY) but Richardson?
• Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM)

2. CREW is a great organization
Oh and the fact that the Texas Ethics Commission has never cited Perry for anything, only proves that commission is worthless agency. That dog won't hunt!

There are other supposed misdeeds, all of which have been reported before. His office has always maintained that Perry has been a big advocate of transparency in government and the Texas Ethics Commission has never found cause to cite him.
