Perry signed to write book about big government

AUSTIN — Two years after taking up for the Boy Scouts, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is speaking up for those angry with expanding federal government.

Perry is writing a book, titled Fed Up, to engage voters for the fall elections, arguing that bigger government will ruin America.

It will look at “how an increasing concentration of power in Washington will lead to further unsustainable debt, greater limits on opportunity and success, and a permanent dependency class — adding up to a potentially failed nation,” according to publisher Little, Brown and Co.

The “very future of our nation” is at stake, Perry argues, according to the publisher's release. “I'm convinced that the burgeoning grass-roots energy and widespread concern can restore balance to our system and invigorate our nation in the decades to come. It's the governors from both parties who must lead this fight.”

The governor has been making that case for a long time, Perry campaign spokesman Mark Miner said.

“It's an issue that he's very passionate about,” Miner said.

Not lost among his critics is the nearly $22 billion that Perry accepted in federal stimulus money last year. Without the federal help, Texas could not have balanced its budget without massive service cuts or tax increases.

Perry's Democratic opponent thinks Texans would be better served if their governor focused on state problems .

“Texans are ‘fed up' with Rick Perry charging taxpayers $10,000 a month for an extravagant mansion and writing books to raise his national profile instead of addressing the $18 billion budget shortfall here at home,” said Katy Bacon, spokeswoman for Democrat Bill White, who faces the incumbent in November. “Perry doubled state debt and accepted almost $23 billion in stimulus dollars. Which chapter will these Perry feats be in?”

2. He is so the copycat
Didn't W do his little "bookie" right before he ran for president? Perry must be working with the same advisers. Karl Rove and Karen Huges are back in Texas you know.

wikipedia entry
A Charge to Keep is a 1999 book written by George W. Bush and credited ghostwriter Michael Herskowitz, with a foreword by Karen Hughes. Later editions have the sub-title My Journey To The White House.

I am so fed up with this guy Perry, too! :puke:

4. Rove and Hughes should move to Somalia
where they can enjoy their "less government" and I'm sure they'd fit right in with the local bandits.
