A Question about Non-Profits supporting/participating in TEA Party Events
Edited on Thu Jul-01-10 10:14 PM by silverlib
This is from the local newspaper Facebook account from my old home town.

TEA PARTY Ingleside on the Bay July 3 at The Cove Park, Hwy 1069 at 5:00 PM with great entertainment and ending at 9:00 to watch fireworks. Speakers: Ingleside Mayor, Pete Perkins, Ingleside OTB Mayor, Howard Gillespie, Texas Rep. Todd Hunter, Candidate for U.S. Representative Blake Farenthold and more candidates and... representatives. Vendors: Boy Scouts of America, Ingleside VFD and San Pat County Republican Women.

Can Boy Scouts and VFD's, being non-profits, participate as vendors at these events?

1. I don't think it's disallowed as a non-profit

I think a group that specifically claimed to be non-partisan like the League of Women Voters might have a problem appearing at a partisan event, but the Boy Scouts - I doubt it.

Especially if they are only acting as vendors or in trade booth kind of area. I would think it would be unprofessional of them to appear on the stage as speakers promoting a candidate or a party, but if they are just hosting a booth there's probably not a problem with it.

That's just my guess. Remember the Boy Scouts can legally discriminate against the gay community, so if they're now partnering with the Republicans in Texas - no surprise.

Hey silverlib :hi:
